Colossians 3:1-17
4. Welcome Home: Waiting to go Home

We spend our entire lives trying to build the perfect "home." We work for the right zip code, the right furniture, and the right community. But the Bible gives us a startling reality check: This world isn't your forever home. It’s just a waiting room. If you moved to a foreign country tomorrow, you’d start learning the language and the customs today. Yet, many of us claim to be headed for heaven while living exactly like the world around us. The Apostle Paul tells us in Colossians 3 that your "real" life is currently hidden with Christ. If that’s true, why do we feel so at home in a world that is passing away?

N.T. Wright once said that the Christian life is "a thousand small choices" that prepare us for God’s future kingdom. You can’t take your career or your house into the next life—the only thing you take with you is your character. You are being "renovated" right now for a world you haven't seen yet.

Today, we’re looking at how to get "home-ready" by asking three questions:

What is "above"?

How do we do this?

How are we going to do this?
